Vintage Used Shell Brand Handy Oil and Lighter Fluid Cans (empty)

Description

Vintage Handy Oil and Lighter Fluid / Spot Remover Cans which were manufactured by the Shell Oil Company of the U.S.A. They are both empty and in used condition. The Shell Handy Oil Can is the 4 fluid ounces size and was produced by The Shell Oil Company in New York and in San Francisco.  Note the single digit postal zones on the back of the can (see picture #10).  Postal zones were implemented by the US Post Office in 1943 and were used until the very early 1960's.  The Shell Lighter Fluid & Spot Remover Can is the 8 fluid ounces size and was manufactured in the U.S.A. by the Shell Oil Company of Houston, Texas. Note the 5 digit zip code on the back of the can. 5 digit zip codes were first implemented by the US Postal Service in 1963.  This means that the Handy Oil Can is older and more vintage than the Lighter Fluid Can. Carefully check out the 12 pictures that are provided so that you know what you are bidding on and to evaluate condition. I purchased these items (and several other vintage Shell collectibles) from a recently retired professional who worked for Shell Oil in the Louisiana area for 40 years.  They were on display in his garage for several years. I don't know anything about vintage Shell cans so I've provided you with several pictures (including close-ups) of all 6 sides of the cans. I think that the Handy Oil Can might be missing a tiny cap on the tip of the nozzle (???)  The pictures best describe what the two cans look like (including condition).  No attempt was made to clean or restore the cans. They are being sold as pictured.
