Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage
ROLA
Alnico magnet 10 inch woofer
, USA-manufactured in 1975. As you probably know, ROLA was a notable supplier to the domestic speaker industry from the 1960’s through 1980’s. Per the EIA source/date code, “285 7521”, this driver was made by ROLA (285) in the 21st week of 1975.
Please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this superb ROLA woofer is correct for your needs.
This ROLA woofer is in clean, excellent condition. The sturdy paper cone is in perfect shape and so is the fabric voice coil dust cap. Also, the surround is
permanent
rubber instead of the fragile foam that was in widespread use back then. It’s taken on a whitish appearance as butyl rubber does over time, but is fully pliable with no structural defects. And, the galvanized steel basket is in great shape with no dents, true scratches, or rust, and the magnet keeper has side dust guards which add a nice touch. Lastly, the ‘double-type’ +/- terminals measure the standard .205”, are marked for polarity, and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this old woofer is exceptionally well-preserved.
Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds perfect with clear, fast mid frequencies and solid low end. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 5.7Ω consistent with a nominal 6-8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket measures 10” diameter, it stands 4⅞” tall, and the mounting holes are spaced 7” adjacent / 9¾” diagonal apart, c-t-c.
So, as pictured and described, this ROLA Alnico magnet 10” woofer is offered at a competitive price.
