These speakers are in clean, excellent condition. The sturdy, ribbed paper cones are perfect and so are the paper voice coil dustcaps. Plus, the black-anodized baskets and heavy ceramic-ferrite magnets are in great shape with no dings or rust. Also, the surrounds are foam, but it was factory-treated for longevity and still shows no sign of decay! And, the =/- terminals measure the standard .205”, are marked for polarity, and have never been soldered on the spades. They’re in remarkable overall shape!
Most importantly, they’ve been fully tested and sound terrific with clear, fast mid-frequencies, treble approaching the audibility threshold, and strong low-end for the platform size. Plus, I tested their DC resistance at a well-matched 4.4 and 4.6Ω, respectively, consistent with a nominal 4 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the baskets measure 4⅟16” across (5⅟16” corner-to-corner), they stand roughly 2¼” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 3⅜” adjacent / 4¾” diagonal apart, c-t-c.
These are a great find for someone that has speakers with blown or damaged 4½” full-range drivers matching this pattern. Or, they’re ready for action in your next speaker-building project!
So, as pictured and described, this exceptional pair of vintage 4½” full-range drivers is offered at a competitive price.
