    Description

Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage
    Foster
    part #49-1168
    horn tweeter
    made in Japan for
in 1975. This venerable tweeter design was also used by Cerwin-Vega and several other U.S. and overseas speaker manufacturers throughout the 1970’s. So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable high frequency driver is correct for your speaker.
This Foster tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. The black-enameled metal faceplate and horn have no dings or scratches, just a few tiny marks.
This later style of the Foster 49-1168 has no magnet cover
. I’m sure it left the factory that way since it has the product data stamp on the magnet's top plate and a yellow dot (+) painted on the magnet edge; both of these details would be on the magnet cover if it had come with one.
Also, the radiating surface and diaphragm have been well-protected resting deep in the horn throat, so they are perfect as well. And, the
    Zenith
bullet-style +/- terminals have never been soldered on the spades. I’ll include a short section of lead wire with female bullet ends, as pictured, for anyone considering this capable driver for a non-Allegro application
Most importantly, it has been fully tested and sounds very clear with excellent detail and none of the harshness usually encountered with metal horns. Plus, the DC resistance tested at 6.5Ω, consistent with its nominal 8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the flange measures 3 7/16” square, it stands about 1⅝” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 2½” adjacent / 3⅝” diagonal apart, c-t-c.
As pictured and described, this terrific Foster horn tweeter made for
    Zenith
is offered at a competitive price.
