    Description

Offered for your consideration is a vintage pair of
    FISHER
    T-129B
    3 inch Alnico magnet tweeters
, USA-made c.1967. They appear to be equivalent to FISHER’s T-144 tweeter from the same period.
So, please take a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if these capable tweeters are correct for your needs.
These tweeters are in clean, fair-to-good cosmetic condition. They have smooth paper cones and perfect flat textile voice coil dustcaps.
One of the tweeters had a few cone cracks that I fixed, as neatly as I could, with surround glue, as pictured
. The other cone is perfect, aside from some adhesive residue from the foam damping disc the factory applied (which disintegrated many years ago as they all have).
Also, the baskets are galvanized steel in very nice shape with just some typical whitish oxidation, mainly on the rear flanges. Lastly, the +/- terminals measure the industry-standard .205”, have never been soldered on the spades, and are marked for polarity on the baskets. Overall, these tweeters are in solid, playable shape.
Most importantly, I’ve tested these tweeters and they both sound equally clear and detailed, reaching close to the beyond-audibility “sparkle” range of dome units. And, of course, there’s the special warm tone that has kept Alnico magnet drivers in demand over forty years after they became too expensive to produce for mass-market applications.
Moreover, I tested their DC resistance at a closely-matched 6.3 and 6.4Ω, respectively, right in line with a nominal 8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the flanges measure 3⅛”, cone diameter is 2⅛”, they stand 1¾” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 1⅞” adjacent / 2¾” diagonal apart, center-to-center.
These are a nice find for somebody that has blown or damaged 3” tweeters in their period Fisher speakers, console, or other domestic speakers.
So, as pictured and described, these vintage Fisher T-129B Alnico magnet 3” tweeters are offered at a competitive price.
