vintage BOSE 8" woofer, made 1987—used in 301 Series II and III—one left—superb

Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage
BOSE
8 inch woofer
removed from my
301 Series II
speakers, manufactured in 1987. This is the same woofer
BOSE
used in the following
301 Series III
and possibly other models from this era, but buyer is responsible for accurately verifying suitability with any other models.
So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this superb
BOSE
mid/bass driver should be yours.
This
BOSE
woofer is in clean, excellent condition. The sturdy paper cone is perfect and so is the voice coil dustcap. Plus, the factory surround is foam, but it’s evidently been treated for longevity; it’s very springy with no decay. Also, the steel basket is in great shape as well with no dings or scratches and the plastic flange gasket looks nice as well. And, I’ve left several inches of input wire attached to the
BOSE
-style +/- ‘spike’ terminals for the new owner’s convenience when splicing-in to their speaker(s). Overall, this woofer is exceptionally well-preserved.
Most importantly, it was recently tested and sounds terrific—strong and clear with detailed midrange and solid bass response for the platform size. Plus, its DC resistance tested at 5.6Ω, consistent with a nominal 6-8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket measures 8¼” wide, it stands 3½” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 5½” adjacent / 8” diagonal apart, c-t-c.
