19mm (¾ inch) poly dome tweeter
that was original equipment in my
Definitive Technology
C1-J center channel speaker. Later versions of this unit were branded Peerless by Tymphany after the Asian company’s takeover of Scandinavia’s “big three” but are otherwise identical. This tweeter was also used in many other brands’ speakers in the 1990’s and early 2000’s, but you are responsible for assessing its suitability for other applications.
So, please take a look at my large photos, measurements, and read the remaining description to decide if this exceptional tweeter is suitable for your needs.
This Vifa tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. The poly dome is flawless with no dimples or marks. Plus, the faceplate has no scratches or cracks and the magnet structure shield cap looks great as well. Also, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity (red dot = pos) and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this tweeter is in superb shape.
Most importantly, it’s been fully tested sounds outstanding as you’d expect from a Vifa product chosen by
Definitive
—fast, detailed upper midrange and spectacular highs up to the driver’s 20kHz limit (with 80 watt power handling). And, I tested the DC resistance at 7.2Ω consistent with a nominal 8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 3 11/16” diameter, it stands 1 5/16” tall, and the three mount holes are spaced 2 15/16” apart, c-t-c.
