Description
Old Log Cabin Bourbon / Prohibition Era BottlingOld Log Cabin has a somewhat colorful past. Whilst America was in the throws of Prohibition, Canadian distillers were still producing alcohol. Distillers Corporation Limited in Montreal, Canada was known to deal with smugglers who would get their product into the United States. Al Capone, whose name is synonymous with the brand, was one such smuggler. The brand is also linked to infamous Saint Valentine's Day Massacre of 1929. This bottle almost certainly dates from around this period. This particular bottle was double copper distilled, matured in charred oak barrels in heated warehouses. It was found, completely sealed in its paper packaging, in a friend's deceased father's house. Assuming the bottle contained therein was still full, I was originally hoping to sell it still in its wrapping. However, when I contacted an expert, I was advised to open it to see if the bottle was, in fact, still full. Alas, it was only about half full! I intended to include a pic with the whiskey still in it, but Ebay removed the listing when I included it. Anyhow, I was told by the expert to dump it out as the seal had been obviously faulty/compromised (see pic). Given that it was still sealed when discovered, it is very clean inside and out (but still smells like whiskey :) All of the labels are in fantastic condition. The cap and seal both have a slight amount of rust. I will include the original paper packaging, which is also in excellent condition. I will include the red seal as well.
