Description
Very rare original Marquette enamel radiator badge emblem. The Marquette was built in 1929 and 1930 only by the Buick Motor Co. in Flint, MI, as a smaller companion brand to the Buick but did not do well because of the Depression. I do not know exact year, model or application for this example. 1 3/8" wide by 1 1/4" high, black, white and translucent red enamel with gold plating. Emblems like these were made using the champleve or guilloche method of bonding molten glass to a copper base which was then plated. Makers mark "GUS. FOX CO. CIN. O." on back. Good used condition, no dents or cracks, some scratches, lower section curved back but do not know if original. Enamel is heavily chipped with loss and has been extensively touched up with paint. The original plating is worn but shows well. Original mounting stud is missing but locating pin is intact. Very hard to find, great for your collection, use as is on a driver, or easily restored. U.S. buyers will pay .50 First Class shipping, International shipping cost will vary based on location. NO RESERVE.
