    Description

    Original 1958? X-100 Shell Motor Oil Large thick Paper Poster - 48" x 32 1/2"
The bottom right hand corner is marked: 4764
and the bottom left is marked: S.P. 58-9-S LITHO IN U.S.A.
I am not an expert on old posters but I believe that
would make this from 1958 since the x-100
motor oil was made in the 50s and quite a few of the items in the garage I found this in were from around that time frame
I haven't been able to find another example of this exact poster in my research so I'm guessing it's a pretty rare old piece of advertising. The first few sheets of paper that were wrapped around it fell apart when it picked up the roll of posters this was in but,  this survived somehow.
The bottom left corner has some staining and it does show signs of age such as small nicks and scuffs as well as a few small tears around the edges. It still has pretty nice color and I believe it was never displayed. All the wear just came from being on the top shelf of a cabinet in a garage for 50+ years.
I have not attempted any sort of cleaning or retouching. I've left it as I found it.
