Old antique Copper Water pot??? distilling? Moonshine Stil ??

Was found in the basement of the oldest building in mokelumne hill Ca. 2 piece hand worked copper. Looks to be turn of the century. I have heard different theories on what it is. They used to make perfumes in that building so the building owner said it is some sort of perfume essences oil extractor ?? Maybe a turkish water pot ? I think you put coals or wood in the bottom piece to heat the top piece. Whatever it is it is neat and old.. Condition is Used. No holes in bottom. Holds water without leaking. Top cap piece has a small cut in the copper. The cap has some heavy material in it to weigh the cap down. Some dents and scratches here and there.  Measures approximately 30" from tip to bottom or just the top piece measures approximately 19" top to bottom measures approximately 15" wide..
