    Description

    LYCEUM THEATRE
Offered is an original playbill for the Lyceum Theatre, Manhatten, for the play, "Seven Chances," which Mr. Jackson was
playing in. The paybill is in good condition only, with toning and cover wear noted and some folding to bottom tips of the playbill.
Item measures about 6 x 9 inches, unpaginated, about 14 pages. With a number of vintage ads.
Undated but most likely from 1918, as
David Belasco’s play, “Seven Chances," is a 1916 play,  and an ad noting, "Next
week," George M. Cohan’s “Hit-the-Trail-Holiday," which is a 1917 play. Also we have the wording, “Keep the Hun on the
Run – Buy Thrift Stamps," which indicates WW I was still an active war. One other clue to the age is the ad, "The
Landaulet Type 57 Cadillac," which gives the probable date of this items as late 1917 or early1918.

Broadway venues (along with the Hudson and New Amsterdam Theatres). It is the oldest continuously operating legitimate
theatre in Midtown, and the first Broadway theatre ever to be granted landmark status in 1974. It is one of the few theatres in
New York which continues to operate under its original name.
