    Description

RARE ANTIQUE GREEN RIVER WHISKEY STATUE
I purchased this item on eBay in 2003.
The seller provided the following information about his acquisition of the item 18 years prior:
Original pre-prohibition Green River Whiskey advertising statue and that it came out of an old speakeasy in Wauconda, Illinois that closed up in 1940. The statue is estimated to be between 1890 and 1919.
The Statue is quite heavy-about 8 pounds and is 9 inches high 3 3/4 inches deep and 13 inches wide. It is a solid non-ferrous metal that is silver in color (pewter?)
The craftsmanship is excellent and the metal work appears very old. On the reverse side of the statue there are small specks on the "pewter." These are reportedly from copper or brass pins that are inserted into the statue as part of the manufacturing/assembly process and that process was typical of metalwork at the turn of the 20th century.
Approximately 100 years old and in EXCELLENT CONDITION!
