Hello, Thought you might like to know that the colors on the shell are actually three naval signal flags. From top to bottom they are, G for Golf or " I need a pilot " ( driver ) In the middle is R for Romeo or " Replenish at sea" or "Ready our ship " ( while in port ) And at the bottom is P for Papa or " all crew return to ship , prepare to ship out " Since there are several meaning I would venture a guess that it was to represent the three letters G.R.P.
