KETO-DIASTIX® test strips 50 pieces
KETO-DIASTIX® strips are designed to monitor the presence and concentration of glucose and ketone bodies (acetoacetic acid) in the urine, for self-use by diabetics and qualified medical personnel.
KETO-DIASTIX® are specific to glucose and ketone bodies in the urine. Acetoacetic acid, commonly known as ketone bodies, can appear in the urine of a diabetic person. The test fields on the KETO-DIASTIX® strip, when immersed in a urine sample, change color depending on the amount of glucose and ketone bodies. Tests carried out with the KETO-DIASTIX® test strips can signal a change in the diet and treatment of a diabetic. Follow your doctor’s instructions when performing the test.
Small amounts of ketone bodies in the body are generally not harmful, but too much of them can be dangerous. Ketone bodies are produced in situations where the body burns too much fat for energy. This can lead to ketoacidosis, which can lead to a diabetic coma. The presence of ketone bodies is therefore a signal that the body is changing abnormally. You should immediately contact your doctor, who will introduce changes to the therapy (change of insulin dose, change of diet) and prevent the risk of ketoacidosis and diabetic coma.
When should urine be tested using the KETO-DIASTIX® tests?
In the event of a cold, flu, infection or other illness.
If you feel signs of high blood sugar (over 240 mg / dL or 13.3 mmol / L) and your blood glucose result is above the level determined by your doctor.
When exposed to stress (e.g. at home, at school, at work or on vacation)
Regularly during pregnancy and on the dates recommended by the doctor.
RESULTS
The results are obtained by directly comparing the color of the strip with the color fields on the bottle. The colored fields reflect the nominal value; the actual value will be within the face value.
Glucose: Results are read from the color areas; as negative or to varying degrees of positive depending on the level of glucose in the urine. Color fields are marked negative and correspond to a glucose content of 100 mg / dl (5.5 mmol / l), 250 mg / dl (14 mmol / l), 500 mg / dl (28 mmol / l), 1000 mg / dl ( 56 mmol / l), 2000 mg / dl (111 mmol / l) or more
Ketone bodies: Results are read from the color areas; as negative or to varying degrees of positive depending on the level of ketones in the urine. Color fields are marked negative and correspond to the content of ketone bodies in trace amounts (5 mg / dl or 0.5 mmol / l), low (15 mg / dl or 1.5 mmol / l), medium (40 mg / dl or 4 mmol / l), high (80-160 mg / dl or 8-16 mmol / l).
