    I am pleased to offer this gorgeous Mercedes 300 SLR recreation built by Thoroughbred Motorcars.  This car was completed in 1987 and is #7 of only #11 cars built. There were probably a number of bodies sold off by Thoroughbred over the years, but only SEVEN complete cars were built by the factory -  making this particular piece extremely rare."  This beauty features a custom-made square tube chassis with a fiberglass body which features the same distinct individual headrests on the rear deck as the original.  VIN # is ID36882C0L0 and mileage shows 14,1XX +/-.

Features include original paint with the "right amount of patina", full leather interior, rich brown carpets,   This car includes a well-fitting manual convertible top (see pictures), 9" rear end, fiberglass body with real wire wheels.  This car also includes lots of original manufacturer documentation (see pictures of binder).

    In 1955, One car dominated the sports car racing circuit. The Mercedes Benz 300 SLR. This car, which was the forerunner of the legendary 300sl Gullwing and the 300 SL Roadster, achieved an unprecedented place in the annals of sport car competition.  in the 1955 Mille Miglia, car number 722 driven by Mercedes-Benz factory driver Stirling Moss with the aid of his navigator Denis Jenkinson completed the 992-mile distance in 10 hours, 7 minutes and 48 seconds- an average speed of 99 mph (160 km/h) - a record that still stands today.
