    Description

In 1971 some enterprising worker at Triumph realized that with a few minor modifications, the Triumph 500cc twin could be fit into the new BSA scrambler-type frame. Production began in 1972 and the Trophy Trail was Introduced for the 1973 model year. The Trophy Trail had a less than two-year run. By the end of 1973 things were so bad at the Triumph Meriden factory that there was a worker strike after having built only a few 1974 versions of the TR5T.  When the factory did reopen in 1975, they decided to stop production of all the 500cc twins. It’s now a sought-after rarity, and according to British motorcycle guru Frank Melling,
“… one of the best bikes ever produced by the British motorcycle industry … if only it had arrived seven years earlier …

Production numbers for the 1973 TR5T are
    2,155

This particular motorcycle is an unrestored original in excellent condition. It has been in my possession for about 2 years and I purchased it from another collector who had it for a number of years. The frame# is PH19175 and the engine# is PH19175. The bike is showing 2579 miles. It starts, runs and rides just as it should. Everything works, including the headlight, high and low beams, brake light, speedometer and tachometer and the turn signals (many of these bikes no longer have the turn signals because they were removed by their owners early on). This bike would make a great addition to any Triumph collection and is fully functional and a nice bike to take out for an afternoon ride. I have a clean title in my name. Full payment is due within 3 days after the close of the auction. Shipping is the buyer’s responsibility. Please feel free to ask questions and I’ll get back to you quickly.
