    Description

    Handsome fold-out 1954 Shell Oil Company road map of Chicago, printed more than 66 years ago.
    This map opens to 27" x 18" and has great detail on old street and highway alignments, including U.S. Route 66, with cartography by H.M. Gousha.
    The coverage area extends from Kenosha to Joliet and the Indiana border, including Waukegan, Winnetka, Evanston, Aurora, Elgin, Park Ridge, Cicero, and Elmhurst.
    The map was distributed by Shell in 1954 and is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 12-BB.
    There's a street map of downtown Chicago on the reverse side.
