DESCRIPTION:
This is a VINTAGE, UNRESTORED drive-in movie theater speaker box from the Park Drive In, once located in Greensboro, North Carolina! This box is stamped with the name of the drive-in -- to prevent theft. Before the advent of stereo radios, patrons would steal speaker boxes and mount one on each side of the back window shelf in their car...creating a "stereo" radio! The chip on the hanger suggests that this box was left in a car window when a movie-goer left the theater at the end of the night, likely damaging the speaker box and snapping-off the car window. Although my collection focuses on Virginia items, this speaker is from my personal collection of drive-in theater memorabilia; I found this speaker box in Waynesboro, Virginia. A great addition to your drive-in movie theater memorabilia collection!
